You have been waiting weeks and maybe months to finally bring your baby home.
This is a time to celebrate. You and your baby have come a long way!
Cindy: Have a special going home outfit. We bought something very flowery and girly with booties and a blanket.
Abby: Take pictures! And video! I waited 9 ½ months to get that wheelchair ride out of the hospital! Our nurse even wheeled us through all the pods so Zoe could say goodbye. You will treasure these images. Have someone ready with a camera when you pull up to your house. Zoe’s sisters had been home for 5 months before she came home. I wish someone had captured Avery’s expression when we walked through the front door. She kind of looked at me, then at Zoe, and then at my husband as if to say “What? There’s another baby??? I have to share you even more???” It was priceless!
Sophia: Don’t plan any appointments for the first day or two at home. We got our daughter home that afternoon; we all got in our comfy pj’s, and just relaxed on the sofa all afternoon and evening. It was heaven!
Katie: If you have other children at home, get them involved in the celebration. Maybe they could make a welcome home banner or other decorations. And be sure to get them some sort of coming home gift too, this will undoubtedly be a big change for them too!
